Hello (Again) and Welcome

This is the third time I’m writing a “first blog post,” but hey... hello there.

For this first post, I wanted to write a little tour of my own website. Like I mentioned on my homepage, the whole site was built using tools from back in the day, following this guide. It's a great step-by-step tutorial on how to make a site like this. If you have a virtual machine or an old PC that can run Windows XP and you manage to download everything, you’re pretty much good to go.

The only real pain was getting Fireworks installed because, of course, Adobe being Adobe.

So why build a site like this? Well, it’s easier for me personally. I tried using modern HTML, followed a bunch of guides, browsed countless layout templates, but none of them ever felt right. I'm not a very creative person. I’ve always had a hard time designing stuff like this or doing it in a way that looks good—at least to me.

But I really liked how the site turned out. I don’t think it’s the most beautiful site out there of course not; there are tons of sites way prettier than mine. But this one is my little corner on the web where I can talk about my stuff, and that’s enough for me.

One more thing: the artwork on my site is called The Signal, painted by John William Godward (British, 1861–1922). I found it on Getty (here) under the public domain, and I thought it looked beautiful.

I think that’s all for now. At the time I’m writing this, the site still needs a lot of polishing. It’s still missing proper mobile responsiveness and doesn’t work too well on smaller screens, but one step at a time.

I’ll try to stay active on here and work on those things. No promises though—life gets busy, especially with college and everything.

Thanks a lot for reading, and...

bye :)
